Our pre-school children enjoy a wide range of activities, including weekly drama classes, preparing them for school.

Most over-3s are eligible for Nursery Education Funding (NEF) which means the first three sessions each week cost just £5 each per week, all through the year. Full time places are subsidised by the NEF payment and cost £145 / week.

Summer dates

• The last normal opening day will be Friday 12th August;
• We’re having a summer party on Friday 12th August, for children and parents;
• The nursery will be closed for two weeks from Monday 15th August;
• The nursery will be closed on the August bank holiday, Monday 29th August;
• The nursery will reopen as usual on Tuesday 30th August.

Committee meeting

The nursery committee will meet in the nursery at 6pm on Tuesday 26th July – all parents are welcome to attend, especially anyone interested in joining the committee.

Annual General Meeting

The nursery’s AGM will take place at 6pm on Thursday 22nd September, in place of the parents’ meeting. All parents and staff are welcome and encouraged to attend.

The nursery will therefore be closed on:

Good Friday: 22nd April
Easter Monday: 25th April
Royal Wedding: 29th April
Spring Bank Holiday: 2nd May

The plans include a natural play area and growing plots for local residents. We’re sure our children will enjoy playing in the redeveloped park and we hope to take on one of the plots.

The proposed improvements consist of alterations to the entrance to the building and the erection of a raised playdeck over part of the yard at the rear of the building.

We are hoping to fund these works with capital funding for the Fire Station Community Nursery, which occupies the first floor of the Old Fire Station and will be the primary beneficiary of these improvements.

The benefits will, however, be wider: changes to the entrance will improve the building’s appearance and access, removing the concrete ramp access that compromises the building’s appearance and imposes on the street. The playdeck will also provide a covered area for vegetable packing by Growing Communities and possible other uses.
